Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ke legend MS Dhoni ek baar phir IPL 2025 mein spotlight mein hain — is baar unke batting form aur unki retirement ko lekar. CSK ke liye finisher ka role nibhaane wale Dhoni ab lower down the order batting kar rahe hain, jahan unki explosive hitting ka purana magic ab kam nazar aa raha hai.
Ponting, jo ab Punjab Kings (PBKS) ke head coach hain, ne Dhoni ke wicketkeeping skills ki taareef ki aur unka support kiya amidst criticism. Unka kehna hai ki ‘Impact Player Rule’ ki wajah se hi Dhoni niche batting kar rahe hain.
“Well his keeping is not getting any worse, that’s one thing I do know; he’s not missing many standing up to the stumps against the spinners, as good as ever,”
Ricky Ponting ne CSK ke decision-making ko bhi support kiya aur kaha ki unki strategy usually spot-on hoti hai:
“Look, you are not going to argue with anything CSK do, they are one of the most successful teams in IPL history. They have had consistent coaching for a long time and generally make the right decisions. With the impact player rule now, Dhoni bats after other serious ball strikers within their own right. I guess he has played a slightly diminished role in the last couple of years, just coming in for the last 10-12 balls and trying to make a big impact. Dhoni is still dangerous in the IPL.”
Ponting se jab poocha gaya ki kya unhe lagta hai Dhoni IPL se retire ho sakte hain, to unhone kaha:
“It might just depend on how this season goes. If he can have a real impact with the bat, I think he will keep playing. If his batting output drops, he might start thinking about it. He’s been a terrific player for a long time.”
Ab tak Dhoni ne 4 innings mein 76 runs banaye hain. Lekin jab woh RCB ke khilaaf no.9 par batting karne aaye to fans ne unki timing par sawal uthaye. Ab sabki nazar hai April 8 par, jab CSK Punjab Kings ke against Mullanpur mein khelegi. Dhoni ka PBKS ke khilaaf record bhi kaafi strong hai — 669 runs in 27 innings with an average of 44.60, including 5 half-centuries!
