The Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, Shubman Gill, was all praise for his teammates after their clinical 58-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This win marked their fourth consecutive triumph in IPL 2025, further solidifying their dominance in the tournament.
Although Gill’s wicket fell early, he acknowledged the brilliant partnerships between Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, which helped set a challenging target for RR. Despite the early hiccup, GT managed to post a competitive total, and Gill’s statement was clear—his team could easily chase down a target of 220 anytime.
“Good total on the board, it wasn’t easy in the first 3-4 overs. The way Sai and Buttler batted was amazing. We’ll take 220 any day of the week. And then our fast bowlers were very clinical to finish off the job. If you have difficulty in choosing the man of the match, it is a good problem for us to have. We are having a team where everyone contributes. Very pleased, when you have bowlers like Rashid, it makes the captain’s job easy. (On if the senior players bully him) Everyone is very nice to me,” said Gill during the post-match presentation.
Gill’s praise wasn’t just for the batsmen; he credited Rashid Khan for making his captaincy easier. His leadership is clearly supported by a well-rounded team effort, where every player plays a significant role.
When asked about the challenge of leading a team with so many experienced players, the 25-year-old dismissed any concerns, particularly praising Ishant Sharma for his seniority and experience within the squad.
With this victory, GT moved to the top of the points table, overtaking Delhi Capitals (DC). Their next challenge will come against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their upcoming clash, set to take place on April 12 at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.
