IPL 2025 ka season full on entertainment mode mein hai, lekin ‘impact player’ rule ek aisi cheez hai jo abhi bhi discussion ka center bana hua hai. Pehle Ricky Ponting ne is rule par apna disapproval dikhaya tha, aur ab Rajasthan Royals ke head coach Rahul Dravid ne bhi apna experience share kiya hai.
“It has certainly added a different dynamic. I’ll be honest: when I was India’s coach, I wasn’t particularly fond of the Impact Player rule. Not because it doesn’t make the game more competitive — it certainly does. It adds complexity and keeps matches alive till the very end. But from a national team perspective, it posed some challenges.”
Dravid kehte hain ki rule se match ka thrill badhta hai, lekin Team India ke liye all-rounders ko develop karna mushkil ho gaya tha.
“As a coach, you want to develop all-rounders, and under the old 11 vs 11 format, certain players would have had more opportunities to bat or bowl in different situations. The Impact Player rule has changed that to some extent.”
IPL 2023 mein jab yeh rule introduce hua, tab se le kar ab tak kai log iske against bol chuke hain. Critics kehte hain ki is rule ne teams ko extra batter dene ka unfair advantage diya hai.
“Statistically, scoring rates have increased due to teams having an extra specialist batter. This means no team is ever truly out of a game. You can have a batter at No.8 or even No.9, which allows for aggressive hitting even after losing six or seven wickets.”
Phir bhi Dravid maanta hain ki is rule ka ek positive angle bhi hai. Wo kehte hain ki yeh rule ek extra Indian player ko mauka deta hai apne talent dikhane ka.
“While having an all-rounder still brings balance, teams can now manage without one if they don’t find the right fit.”
“Strategically, it has added layers to team selection and match planning. That said, I understand why it exists. It ensures every game remains competitive and allows an extra Indian player to feature in the league, which is a positive. Like with the auction and other rules, there are always pros and cons.”
Dravid ne chahe India ke coach hote hue is rule ko pasand na kiya ho, unhone phir bhi Rohit Sharma-led team ko ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 jeetne mein guide kiya, aur ek major trophy ki long wait khatam ki.
Rajasthan Royals Ka Current Form
Is season mein Dravid injury ke kaaran wheelchair aur crutches ka sahara le rahe hain, lekin unki team RR ka performance thoda mixed raha hai. Sanju Samson ke return ke baad team ne Punjab Kings ko 50 runs se haraya aur confidence boost hua. Ab unka agla match April 9 ko Gujarat Titans ke against hai, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad mein.
