IPL 2025: GT’s 58-Run Thumping! Sudharsan’s 82 & Prasidh’s Magic Seal 4th Consecutive Victory!

IPL 2025 continues to get intense, and Gujarat Titans (GT) are on a roll! In their latest clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 9, GT steamrolled Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a massive 58-run victory, continuing their winning streak. This is now their fourth straight win in the tournament after their opening loss to Punjab Kings. The win pushes them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, leaving RR in seventh place after just two wins in five matches.

Sai Sudharsan was the hero with the bat, scoring a brilliant 82 runs off 51 balls, guiding GT to a solid total of 217/6 in 20 overs. His innings included eight boundaries and three sixes. GT’s decision to bat first came after RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to field. Though GT faced an early setback with Shubman Gill getting bowled out cheaply by Jofra Archer for just 2 runs, Sudharsan’s partnership with Jos Buttler (36 off 25 balls) gave the team the much-needed momentum.

Notably, Shahrukh Khan was promoted up the order and delivered with a quickfire 36 runs off 20 balls, while Rahul Tewatia chipped in with a useful 24 off 12 balls. Despite Rajasthan’s best efforts, with bowlers like Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande picking up two wickets each, GT’s powerful total proved too much to chase.

In reply, RR’s chase was derailed by a devastating spell from GT’s Prasidh Krishna, who picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs. Despite a valiant 52 from Shimron Hetmyer, RR could only muster a total of 159 runs in their 20 overs. The RR top order struggled, with key players like Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (out for a duck) failing to get going. Riyan Parag showed promise with 26 runs, but it was Hetmyer who gave RR a glimmer of hope, although his 52 off 32 balls wasn’t enough.

After Hetmyer’s dismissal, RR’s lower order couldn’t handle the pressure, with GT’s bowlers maintaining tight lines. Apart from Prasidh Krishna’s stellar performance, Rashid Khan took two wickets, and the rest of the bowling attack, including Mohammed Siraj, Arshad Khan, Kulwant Khejroliya, and Sai Kishore, each contributed with a wicket. The disciplined bowling ensured RR fell short by 58 runs.

Shubman Gill and his men will now take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 12 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, while RR will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 13 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
