Jofra Archer truly set the stage on fire with his jaw-dropping pace during the IPL 2025 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on April 9. The match kicked off with RR captain Sanju Samson winning the toss and opting to bowl first. RR made a single change to their lineup, bringing in Fazalhaq Farooqi for Wanindu Hasaranga, who was unavailable due to personal reasons. Meanwhile, GT stuck with their winning combination.
The Titans opened their innings with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill at the crease, and RR’s fiery fast bowler Jofra Archer was handed the new ball. GT managed to score 7 runs off Archer’s first over, and another 7 runs came off Farooqi’s over. But Archer wasn’t holding back. He bowled a perfect delivery at 147.7 kmph, a real peach, aimed at GT captain Shubman Gill. Gill, in his attempt to push forward, was a fraction too late. The ball swung in sharply, sneaked through his inside edge, and crashed into the off-stump. Gill, out for just 2 runs off 3 balls, was left utterly stunned by the sheer pace and movement of the delivery.

To put things into perspective, Archer’s 152.3 kmph thunderbolt is the second-fastest delivery in this IPL season. The record for the fastest ball so far is held by Lockie Ferguson, who bowled a blistering 153.2 kmph during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings.
