‘Gutted’ Ruturaj Gaikwad Opens Up After IPL 2025 Setback – ‘Would Have Loved to Lead CSK Out of This!’

In a shocking turn of events, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an unfortunate elbow injury. The right-handed batter fractured his elbow ahead of CSK’s crucial home match against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and will not be participating in the remainder of the tournament.

As fans were left heartbroken by this news, Ruturaj Gaikwad broke his silence with an emotional message, thanking supporters and acknowledging the team’s ongoing struggles.

“Hello everyone, Ruturaj this side. Really gutted to be missing future part of the IPL due to an unfortunate elbow injury. But, thank you for your support until now. Yes, we have been struggling a while, you know now that a young wicketkeeper leading the team, hopefully, things will change. I am gonna be there with the team, really support them,” said Gaikwad.
“Definitely would have loved to take this team out of this situation, but you know some things are not controllable. As I said, definitely looking forward to support the team from the dug-out and hopefully, we have a great season ahead. Thank you.”

With Gaikwad sidelined, CSK has handed over the captaincy reins to none other than MS Dhoni. Known for his leadership brilliance, Dhoni is arguably the best captain to lead CSK through this tough time. Under Dhoni’s guidance, the team has won five IPL titles, making them the most successful team in the history of the league.

Interestingly, Dhoni had stepped down as captain before IPL 2025, and his last game as captain was during the IPL 2023 final, where CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans to win their fifth IPL title.

However, CSK has struggled so far in IPL 2025. With just one win out of the first five matches, the team is currently positioned ninth on the points table. While Gaikwad’s absence is a blow, all eyes are now on MS Dhoni to steer the ship through this difficult phase.
