On April 11, 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their fifth consecutive loss in the ongoing IPL 2025. Despite the bowlers trying their best, CSK could not defend a meager score of 103/9, their lowest total at home. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) comfortably chased down the target with eight wickets in hand and still had 59 balls to spare. But amid the chaos, Afghan left-arm chinaman bowler Noor Ahmad continues to hold the coveted Purple Cap.
Noor was introduced in the eighth over with KKR already at 85/1. In his very first ball, he outfoxed Sunil Narine with a sharp googly that rattled the stumps, sending Narine back for a quickfire 44 off 18 balls, including two fours and five sixes. Though Noor didn’t take another wicket, his two-over spell for eight runs kept him firmly at the top of the charts.

While there were no major changes in the top five, KKR’s bowlers made some significant moves. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and young pacers Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana gained some ground. Chakravarthy took crucial wickets, including Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda, and is now in the ninth position with eight wickets from six matches. Rana, with his brilliant performance of two wickets for just 16 runs, sits in 13th place with seven wickets, while Arora is just below him with the same tally of seven wickets from five games.
As the IPL 2025 season heats up, Gujarat Titans’ bowlers Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj are also making strong bids for the Purple Cap. Both have 10 wickets each, and with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) taking on Gujarat Titans on April 12, there’s a strong chance that either of them might claim the top spot, depending on their performance in the upcoming match. Shardul Thakur of LSG, with nine wickets in five matches, could also push for a place in the top five if he performs well against Gujarat.
Meanwhile, in the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), there are no SRH bowlers in the top 20, but PBKS’ Arshdeep Singh, with six wickets from four games, is on the verge of breaking into the top five.
The race for the IPL 2025 Purple Cap is heating up, and with several bowlers in strong contention, the coming matches are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats!
