IPL 2025’s Match 27 is all set for a thrilling encounter as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), led by Pat Cummins, face off against Punjab Kings (PBKS), captained by Shreyas Iyer, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 12. This game marks the second clash of a double-header Saturday, with both teams eyeing a crucial win.
SRH, who started the season with a victory, have been struggling lately, suffering four consecutive losses. Currently, they sit at the bottom of the points table and are desperate to bounce back. On the other hand, PBKS are doing better, placed fifth, and they are hoping to break into the top four with a win today.
The toss was won by PBKS, and they decided to bat first, sticking to their winning combination without making any changes. In a key update for SRH, Pat Cummins announced that young sensation Eshan Malinga will be making his IPL debut, replacing Kamindu Mendis in the squad.
“We are going to bat first. In our recent games, we have batted first and posted good scores. We are focusing on playing aggressive cricket. We know that our powerplay record isn’t great, but that’s not on our minds today. Each player has their own style, and we are backing our instincts,” said Shreyas Iyer at the toss.
“It’s fine. We can chase any target. Although we’ve had a few losses, we’re in a good space right now. One change for us: Malinga comes in for Kamindu Mendis,” said Cummins.
