Abhishek Sharma’s 141-Run Blitz Breaks Records, But His Father Still Wants More!

Abhishek Sharma’s epic 141-run knock on April 12, 2025, against Punjab Kings in the IPL has made headlines! This explosive knock helped Sunrisers Hyderabad chase down a massive 246-run target, marking the second-highest successful chase in IPL history. But wait, there’s more to this story!

After a rough start to the season, with SRH managing only 51 runs in 5 matches, Abhishek came back with a vengeance! His knock of 141 off just 55 balls, featuring 10 sixes and 14 boundaries, placed him as the third-highest individual scorer in IPL history—only behind Chris Gayle’s 175* and Brendon McCullum’s 158*. Quite an achievement, right?

Abhishek’s parents were in the stands at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, watching their son’s historic performance. The young batter celebrated his century and the match-winning knock with a heartfelt picture alongside his proud parents, holding the coveted Player of the Match trophy.

But here’s the twist: despite this incredible performance, his father still wasn’t satisfied!

“It was very special. My father has been coming to watch my matches since my Under-14 days. If you zoomed in on him during my innings, you’d see him signalling to me, telling me which shots to play – ‘play this shot, play that shot’. He was my first coach. It’s very special to have done this in front of my mother and father,” Abhishek said.

Now here’s where things get interesting. Despite putting on an extraordinary display, his father still wasn’t fully satisfied with the performance.

“I think it’s my highest score in the IPL. My father keeps telling me to finish games, so he’s still not satisfied. There’s always room for improvement. I’ll keep working hard,” Abhishek added.

Abhishek’s blistering 141 set the stage for an unforgettable partnership with Travis Head, who scored a solid 66 off 37 balls. The two together put up a massive 171-run stand in just 12.2 overs, but despite setting a huge total, Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings lost the game.

Looks like this 141-run knock was just another step for Abhishek in his quest for perfection, with his father pushing him to keep improving. What do you think? Is there more to come from this young star?
