On a thrilling Friday night in Chepauk, the Kolkata Knight Riders completely dominated the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, winning by a whopping 8 wickets. With this resounding victory, KKR shot up to third place in the points table, leaving CSK stranded in second-last place, just above Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The match was nothing short of a disaster for CSK, as their batting crumbled like a house of cards. They posted the lowest total in IPL history at Chepauk, managing just 103 runs in their 20 overs. Kolkata’s bowlers, led by Sunil Narine who took 3 wickets for 13 runs, were exceptional from the first over. The collapse was so quick that CSK were reduced to 71 for 6 by the 15th over, and it was only thanks to a fighting 31 from Shivam Dube that they managed to avoid a total disaster.
KKR, on the other hand, made the chase look easy. Their openers, Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, set the tone with a quickfire 46-run partnership in just 4 overs. Even though De Kock was dismissed early, Narine’s 44 runs off 18 balls put KKR in a dominant position. The rest of the work was done by Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh, who led KKR to a comfortable victory with 59 balls to spare.
