Delhi Capitals (DC), under the leadership of Axar Patel, continued their impressive run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets. This victory marks their fourth consecutive win, keeping them on top of the momentum in the tournament.
After the match, Axar Patel took the opportunity to praise his team’s unwavering confidence and solid strategy, which have kept them undefeated so far. Here’s what he had to say in the post-match press conference:
“When we won three in three, thought that four out of four could also be possible (smiles). Everyone is playing with confidence, it feels nice (to have won four out of four),” said Axar Patel.
Axar also touched upon his tactical moves with the ball, especially how spin bowling played a key role in the middle overs. He explained how he tried to outsmart RCB with his decisions:
“We talk about match-ups and what is happening off the surface. I felt they like to face pacers, so tried to hold them back. Then the ball was spinning and bouncing, so thought of bowling spin in the powerplay. But the 19th over (that I bowled) was too tactical (laughs),” he added.
He didn’t hold back when it came to praising his fellow bowlers either. Veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav and young Vipraj earned special mention for their outstanding performances, picking up two wickets each.
“Kuldeep has been there for many years and to do it consistently on this big platform is a good thing. Vipraj, in the first two games, was feeling pressure but the way he bowled in the last game and this game, he is confident. Day by day, he is improving. He is giving the captain confidence and no better thing than that,” Axar said.
Special mention also went to KL Rahul, who played a composed and mature knock to guide DC to victory under pressure:
“It becomes a very easy job for me. I have been in that situation, being used as a floater in pressure situations. It is not easy (changing positions). Having a player like him is a very good thing. I played a bad shot today to get out, but he played a mature innings and finished it off. He has been carrying his Champions Trophy form,” he added.
With four straight wins, DC now sits at number two on the points table, and next up, they will face Mumbai Indians on April 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
